Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
Post-marriage, this verse always seems to stand out to me, reminding me never to depart from the things that I was taught as a kid, from my parents. I am blessed with godly parents, which I think is one of God’s greatest blessings! Although I was always thankful for my parents, after marriage I have come to be even more thankful
This is because, with Dad as a Pastor, there was always a certain way of life that we kids (my bro and me) had to live. And this I use not in any negative sense (altho’ I used to bite my teeth about it at times!). However, after marriage, I seemed to be like a bird let out of a cage, who found her wings and learnt to fly… as high as I wanted to and as far as I wished… And there are times when I stray away from my Shepherd and the path that He has for me. But in His grace, He causes His Holy Spirit to whisper to me… and this is one of the verses that always comes to my mind… to never depart from the things that I have heard from the beginning… and in doing that I know that I will continue to commune with my God.
