My Testimony
I was born and brought up in a Christian home. My parents were saved, born again, and loved and served the Lord Jesus Christ. I grew up knowing almost every story in Bible
, and learnt a whole lot of memory verses as a result of faithfully attending Sunday School!
The years rolled on, and once I reaced the ‘age of understanding’, my Dad started telling me about salvation and the whole package! For starters, I was asked to read the Bible and pray – daily!! And I began to rebel – not on the outside – but within. The more he told me I needed to be born again and stuff, the more I hated all the things I heard. But deep within my heart I knew I was a sinner, and I knew what my Dad was telling me was true. But I guess the time had not come, and I kept putting things off.
Then one convention night, my friend gave her heart to Jesus. I went home as usual – had me dinner – but could not get myself to go to sleep. Only one thought was running through my head – I needed to set my life right. My sins seemed to be like a heavy burden upon my back – and I so badly wanted to get rid of the load. I knew all the answers – knew what I had to do – but kept tossing and turning in bed – not willing to get on my knees. In my pride, I wondered what my parents and brother would think of me (even tho’ the lights were off and they had gone to sleep!). But the sweet Holy Spirit was not letting go this time!! So I turned over, and with my head in my pillow, I spoke to Jesus – telling Him that I needed Him to come into my heart and cleanse me from all my sin with His blood.
Its been a little more than 10 years now. And everyday with Jesus is sweeter than the day before! And everyday with Jesus, I love Him more and more!! In between, I took my water baptism, and I was graciously baptized in the Holy Spirit! I must confess that I have strayed many a time, and like the prodigal son, have come to myself, and have come running back to my Father, who has been waiting to welcome me with open arms!
All I can say is Thank You Father, Thank You Jesus, and Thank You Holy Spirit!
And Thank You Dad and Mom for praying for me! I love you!
